Transportation Supervisor, AFD

Summary
CHS is looking for a Fleet Supervisor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for the overall operational performance, safety, customer service, and profitability of an assigned fleet of drivers for our AFD (Automated Fuel Delivery) division. The Fleet Supervisor will provide leadership for company drivers and field operations while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for driver performance, safety, regulatory compliance, fleet utilization, customer satisfaction, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement within the assigned division.
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, hazardous materials transportation regulations, company policies, and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, training, and development for drivers, while supporting recruiting, onboarding, retention, engagement, and succession planning efforts.
- Monitor driver qualifications, compliance requirements, performance metrics, and operational indicators to ensure accountability and achievement of business objectives.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Conduct driver meetings, ride-alongs, field observations, audits, and coaching sessions to communicate priorities, improve performance, and support safety and compliance initiatives.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, spills, near misses, customer complaints, and regulatory violations, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Foster open communication by addressing driver concerns, recognizing achievements, and promoting employee engagement and workforce effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Dispatch, Maintenance, Safety, Sales, Customer Service, Asset Management, and Corporate Leadership to improve operational performance, resolve customer issues, support new business opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to respond to business needs outside of normal business hours.
- Ensure completion, accuracy, and retention of all required transportation documentation, inspections, manifests, and regulatory records.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of transportation or related experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Commercial driving experience

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
