Creating a more inclusive culture

As a leading global agribusiness, CHS can and should be a leader in building a workplace grounded in our value of inclusion – where excellence and growth stem from diverse thinking. At CHS, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone is welcomed, respected and empowered to succeed.

Our goal is to help us all understand ways to help everyone at CHS feel valued just as they are.

— Jay DebertinCHS president and chief executive officer

Our inclusion commitment

To build a workplace culture where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued, we are:

  • Centering our efforts on employees' experiences and ideas
  • Implementing strategies that enhance our culture and marketplace presence
  • Monitoring the engagement of our workforce

It’s tough to feel like you’re contributing enough to both your military obligations and your civilian career, but the attitude at CHS has been very supportive. My supervisor helps me figure out what’s going to work for everybody – and my team loves seeing videos I send from the plane.

The employee resource group, Mozaiko, has allowed for me to have an open and honest dialogue about our cultural differences. It also created an environment that I can have fun, show up and be my best self at work.

It would be hard to find a better experience with another company when you are part-time military. The support I receive from all levels of the company is amazing. Many of the people that I work with in the military do not have as great of an experience with their companies as I have had with CHS.

Employee resource groups

CHS employee resource groups are voluntary, employee-led groups open to all employees. They promote an inclusive and cooperative environment by fostering connection, understanding, and support.

  • Harvest Pride

Harvest Pride promotes a safe, connected and empowered LGBTQA+ community across CHS. We embody our mission creating a safe environment, building a community, and educating our stakeholders.

  • Veterans

Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG) provides support, camaraderie and resources for employees formerly or currently serving in the military. Through open membership, the VERG recognizes and connects veterans and those who support veterans.

  • Mozaiko

Mozaiko /mozaˈiko/ is an employee resource group focused on ethnic diversity and inclusion at CHS. Mozaiko exists to advance ethnic diversity at CHS while creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Our vision is to promote inclusion and advance diversity by transforming our workplace into an environment where all individuals feel a sense of belonging; feeling respected and valued for who they are.

  • Women in Leadership

CHS Women in Leadership (CHS WiL) supports women in the workplace who are excited and energized to grow personally and professionally. WiL provides employees with educational and networking opportunities, community outreach, and experiences that focus on development for all women and allies at CHS. We empower employees to reach their highest potential through virtual and in-person opportunities to grow, engage and connect.

  • CultivateHER

CultivateHER is a subchapter of WiL that supports women in the agriculture segments of CHS, focused on those working across CHS agronomy, country operations, and global grain & processing. This group is aimed at cultivating an inclusive environment that empowers women in agriculture to advance their careers and leadership potential and build their network through making connections.

External partnerships

We invest in partnerships that create a broad and diverse agriculture workforce and talent pipeline:

As a military friendly employer, we’re proud to have many self-identified veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, and military family members on our team. These partnerships reinforce our commitment to hiring military veterans:
