Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Ag Retail division for a SeniorEHS Specialist. In this role, you’ll provide technical support and guidance on all matters related to safety. You’ll be responsible for implementing and managing existing safety programs to ensure compliance and foster a culture of safety across our operations.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).
- Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to location personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
- Routinely visit locations in the business unit to conduct facility inspections and provide EHS support to operations personnel.
- Appropriately respond to day-to-day EH&S related concerns and events in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist more junior team members in work activities.
- Develop and implement EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures as needed.
- Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Conduct EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analyses, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.
- Conduct thorough incident investigations, manage worker’s compensation process, and return to work program.
- Actively monitor, manage, and follow-up on EH&S incidents and performance metrics.
- Evaluate EH&S metrics and collaborate with EH&S and Operations leadership to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Keep current on applicable EH&S related rules and regulations.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety
Additional Qualifications
- Effective communication & relationship skills
- Ability to travel 30-50%
- Agriculture background or facility operation experience.
- Ability to complete OSHA 30-hour training certification program.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field.
- Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment is needed to inspect facilities
- Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
