Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Refined Fuels Sales team. We are looking for a Retail Business Specialist in the Minnesota area to assist retail convenience store management in all areas of running convenience store operation. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be detail oriented. You must have strong negotiating skills and demonstrate ability to successfully manage multiple projects at one time. This is a home office position with travel required. 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with store management and leaders to review and provide consultation on all aspects of the retail operation including but not limited to:
    • Analysis and game plan for financial performance
    • Competitive market analysis
    • Marketing and communications programs
    • Elevation of Cenex customer experience
    • Staffing – recruitment, retention and training
    • Food service programs
    • Point of sale software and back-office integration
    • M&A strategy
  • Represent Cenex branded marketing programs and offerings dedicated to the Cenex branded network.
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments within the convenience retail landscape.
  • Must be well versed in the proprietary Cenex Preferred Vendor program.  
  • Provide IT support for back-office operations, including facilitating Point of Sale (POS) system setup and training for current and future staff. 
  • Conduct customized training and ServSafe food safety classes for Cenex branded stores.
  • Represent Cenex Retail Solutions throughout a given trade area – account prospecting, trade and industry events, Cenex customers both cooperative and independent jobber/dealer network.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in the following areas: Retail operations, hospitality, food service industries
  • Ability to have crucial conversations, inspire change and collaborate with others
  • Must be able to travel 40% in assigned territory with occasional overnight stays.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Certified instructor for Servsafe or obtain certification within 6 months of start date.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
