Process Engineer

Location: McPherson, KS

Job Description

Monitors and optimizes refinery units on a daily basis. Performs engineering activities required to support facility design, process control configurations, and daily unit operations. Reads, reviews, and approves P&ID drawings and walks down drawings and keeps them up to date. Applies sound engineering judgment in selecting and applying engineering methods to solve plant issues and will write/issue technical reports on regular basis. Reports will include tracking catalyst life and performance, unit energy/mass balances, feed, and product composition/specification analysis review. Participates in MOC reviews, PSSRs, PHAs and PSM audits as necessary and completes assigned safety action items. Tracks and reports on heat and mass transfer equipment performance by completing field surveys, lab data evaluations and performing mass and energy balances. Works with catalyst and chemical vendors in tracking and reviewing performance and help select most viable options that optimize performance and profitability. Fosters an environment of open communication, problem resolution, and project ownership. Identifies areas for performance and process improvements. Annual salary between $126,500 - $143,700.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications. Job Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering; Business, Energy, Environment and Sustainability; or a related field plus 2 years of experience as a Process Engineer, Account Manager, District Representative, or related. Must possess 2 years of experience with each of the following: developing safety procedures to be utilized by employees operating equipment or working close to ongoing chemical reactions; ensuring compliance with all applicable company and regulatory environmental, health and safety requirements; troubleshooting problems with chemical manufacturing processes; optimizing chemical treatment and implementing best practices; researching and monitoring upcoming technology changes to improve future strategies; writing and issuing technical reports on a regular basis; process engineering; project management; HazOps skills that aid to identify potential hazards and operational problems in complex environments; reading, reviewing, and approving P&ID drawings; software simulations: HYSYS and ASPEN; and field experience in: desalting which involves removing impurities from crude oil before it is refined; chemical cleaning and degassing of process equipment, tanks and unit circuits; Crude Distillation Unit, Vacuum Distillation and Amine and Hydrotreaters Units; Oil Sand Chemical Corrosion Control Applications; and experience with turnarounds in which a refinery is shut down for necessary maintenance, inspections, and upgrades. #LI-CF1
