Associate Fleet Specialist

Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Utilization Analyst within our Fleet Services team. This role manages day-to-day fleet asset lifecycle activities to ensure trucks and trailers are purchased, deployed, utilized, transferred, and disposed of in alignment with enterprise standards and business demand. The position maintains accurate asset visibility, supports utilization optimization, enforces specification alignment, and coordinates across Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, Tax, Safety, IT, OEMs, dealers, and external partners to improve fleet performance and capital investment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor utilization performance of trucks and trailers using mileage, hours, trips, dwell time, idle data, and related fleet metrics
- Identify underutilized, overutilized, idle, surplus, or misaligned assets and recommend redeployment, sharing, downsizing, retirement, or disposition actions
- Coordinate asset transfers between regions or business units, including demand validation, stakeholder communication, and system updates
- Maintain accurate inventory of active, idle, seasonal, surplus, and retired trucks and trailers; reconcile records to physical assets and support audits
- Support purchasing and replacement decisions by validating utilization needs, capacity gaps, and alignment with business demand
- Coordinate asset disposition activities with Finance, Tax, and external partners, ensuring timely system and financial closeout
- Support fleet capital request intake, review, prioritization, and tracking using utilization data
- Validate that truck and trailer specifications align with duty cycle, standard spec governance, and expected utilization
- Coordinate with OEMs on delivery timing, availability, recalls, and utilization-related service impacts
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High school diploma or GED required
- 0+ years of experience in fleet operations, asset management, transportation, or equipment lifecycle managements
Additional Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Fleet Management, or related field preferred
- Experience coordinating asset purchasing, transfers, or disposition activities
- Strong working knowledge of fleet assets, specifications, lifecycle management, and utilization metrics
- Strong organizational, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze asset data and support capital and utilization decisions
- Professional certifications such as NAFA CAFM/CAFS, asset management, or transportation certifications preferred
- Experience with fleet systems, asset management platforms, or ERP tools such as SAP, EAM, or Intelex
- Experience working with OEMs, dealers, Finance, Tax, Procurement, and Operations partners
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
