Summary
CHS Inc is hiring in Fairmont, MN is hiring for a Shipping & Receiving Operator position to be responsible for all the shipping & receiving operations within our soy bean facility! This opportunity will manage all inbound/outbound truck & railcar functions, perform recieving duties, and support all plant operations on a daily basis. This role offers a 12-hour 5 days on/2 days off rotating schedule of 14 days and nights per month including weekends and holidays. Apply today and join the largest co-op in the U.S!
Responsibilities
- Perform all job functions within the facility under general supervsion, including shipping/recieving functions via truck & rail, grading monitoring equipment and identifying areas of improvement.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment while complying with procedures, policies, rules and regulations.
- Accurately complete shipping documentation via computer utilizing SAP, and yard tracking software.
- Safely operate locomotives in teams from the locomotive cab and independently from the ground using remote control units.
- Safely perform railroad conductor responsibilities to include sorting railcars, coupling/uncoupling railcars, and properly aligning switch points to proper tracks.
- Safely operate skid loader, payloader, forklift, JLG lift/scissors lifts in the department to complete assigned tasks as necessary.
- Conduct preiodic railcar & truck safety inspections to ensure compliance and create corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all department equipment support/supplement maintenance staff as required.
- Work extended hours during scheduled plant outages, assist with maintenance team and contractors to safely complete assigned tasks.
- Follow all plant and food safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Production Operations
- Must meet minimum age requirement
Additional Qualifications
- Railcar, rail yard management, or locomotive/track mobile experience preferred
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift certification
- Ability to perform basic math and perform end of month inventory measurements
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands
- Computer skills, ability to enter railcar data into logistics management software accurately to ensure proper railcar billing, update yard checks.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work independently for extended periods of time, as well as in confined spaces and in hazardous environments.
- Ability to spend long periods of time being on your feet including walking, standing and climbing steps and ladders, and work at heights up to 120 ft.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear all required protective equipment which may include respirators, hard hats, and eye and hearing protection.
- Ability to use both automated and manual tools and equipment.
- Ability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to work in noisy ,dusty, and all weather conditions
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
