Summary
CHS is seeking a Grains Operator to join our team at our ethanol facility in Annawan, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of incoming grain used in ethanol production. Responsibilities include operating grain handling equipment, monitoring grain quality, unloading and loading grain trucks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards. This position is ideal for someone with agricultural experience, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform shipping and receiving functions, including loading and unloading trucks and railcars with grain, ethanol, and co-products in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate industrial and mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid steers, and switching engines in accordance with company policies and training.
- Conduct pre-load and post-load inspections of trucks and railcars to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Accurately complete shipping, receiving, inspection, and inventory documentation.
- Manage product inventory using first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles and assist with inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including warehouse areas, equipment, and workstations.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and assist maintenance technicians as needed.
- Assist with training and mentoring new employees on job duties, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- Follow all plant, environmental, quality, food/feed safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Actively promote and support a strong safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures, identifying hazards, and reporting or correcting unsafe conditions.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support plant operations.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Production Operations
- Must meet minimum age requirement
Additional Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work independently for extended periods of time, as well as in confined spaces and in hazardous environments.
- Ability to spend long periods of time being on your feet including walking, standing and climbing steps and ladders, and work at heights up to 120 ft.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear all required protective equipment which may include respirators, hard hats, and eye and hearing protection.
- Ability to use both automated and manual tools and equipment.
- Ability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to work in noisy ,dusty, and all weather conditions
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
