Summary
Producer Ag is a joint venture between MKC and CHS that taps into an extensive network of assets to support a global supply chain. The joint venture exists to improve market access for farmer-owners, area cooperatives, processors, and end users through participation in the southern corridor grain supply chain and creates an integrated supply chain with export access to the Gulf.
Producer Ag has an exciting opportunity on our trading team. We are looking for a Director of Commodity Trading who will develop and implement an end-to-end merchandising strategy for the southern corridor. In this role, you must be able to work across the enterprise and with a diverse group of people and customers. This role requires collaborative decision making while utilizing details, facts, and data to make informed decisions. Strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and attention to detail are a must in this position.
This role in on site at our location in Wichita, KS.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an end-to-end merchandising strategy to facilitate the operational efficiency, profitability, and value created for our owners.
- Manage the risk position, origin and destination pairs, relationship trading and arbitrage.
- Implement and refine the desired culture of the Producer Ag Trade Team in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
- Lead, develop, coach and train product line manager and traders.
- Work with regional partners to align origination and supply chain positioning, trading, and logistics.
- Perform market analysis on and interpret trade flows and commodity supply & demand.
- Responsible for maximizing end to end margin for trade flow.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to optimize logistics in the supply chain.
- Drive destination market access for the supply chain by maintaining competitive prices through price discovery.
- Support the annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting process.
- Maintain existing customer base through building strong relationships and providing exceptional customer service. Identify, develop, and build new opportunities with customers.
- Proactively communicate opportunities and challenges to team and critical stakeholders to gain alignment and drive forward solutions.
- Resolve issues and disputes with accounting, transportation, shippers and buyers/end users.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 7+ years of experience in Trading, Merchandising, and/or Commodities
- Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field
- Experience managing a P&L
- Working knowledge of GAFTA contracts and futures exchange rules
- Commodity markets and trading subject matter expertise
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
