Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing finance and accounting functions assigned within the department, ensuring completeness, correctness and timeliness of AP, AR, GL reporting and cash expenses management & reconciliation. The role will also be required to work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve critical/non-routine issues related to AP, AR, expense management, process improvement as well as cash flow reconciliation. This position is based in Singapore.
Responsibilities
General Accounting and Audit
- Oversee day-to-day management of transactions, handling & processing data input and reconciliation of A/P, A/R, GL (full spectrum of accounts).
- Work with the local & regional team to prepare compilation financial statements, regional compilation management reports and balance sheet reconciliation assigned.
- Support Finance Manager in coordinating regional monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities and financial audit and tax filing.
- Coordinate with JDE international support team on financial reporting, and bookkeeping related issues.
Analysis and Reporting
- Support finance manager to gather relevant data to conduct trend analysis, variance analysis and the compilation of various financial reports.
- Ensure regional monthly closing of books are completed in JDE and the US GAAP journal entries posted correctly.
- Assist and coordinate in budget preparation and financial forecast.
Controls
- Execute recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are exercised in accordance with the company policy.
- Monitor daily positioning reconciliation.
- Prepare cash flow forecast by coordinating with APAC accountants to prepare regional cash flow forecast.
Compliance and Statutory Reporting
- Reports to the finance manager of CHS Singapore.
- Ensure compliance to financial regulations and controls.
- Maintain accounting practices in compliance with established accounting policies, namely - IFRS and US GAAP. Prepare accounting reports and documentation for external audits.
- Ensure that all local tax filings (e.g. GST filing in Singapore) is done promptly and on time across region.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- CPA preferred
Additional Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting or finance and with the following prerequisites: -
- Prior experience in administering & monitoring financial system, general accounting, and audit and financial reporting.
- Advance excel Skill and knowledge of Power BI and in using JD Edwards enterprise system.
- Familiarity with local and regional accounting & tax regulations
- Prior experience in commodity trading industry (preferred)
