Summary

The Lead Quality Assurance Technician supports and helps train quality assurance technicians, maintains laboratory equipment, conducts advanced laboratory testing and data analysis, and supports quality program management initiatives that ensure products meet specifications as they are processed to ensure our customers receive only the highest quality products.  You must have excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of managing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all quality requirements for producing ethanol, distillers corn oil, distillers grains, and purified water.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Chemical Hygiene Practices (CHPs) are followed at all times
  • Write, update, and train team members on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and non-routine troubleshooting and repairs as necessary on laboratory and water treatment equipment including but not limited to HPLC, GC, IC, NIR, Coulometric KF Titrators, pH/ORP/Conductivity/TDS sensors, Reverse Osmosis, Multi-Media Filtration, water softeners, and anaerobic digesters.
  • Perform data analysis, prepare reports, and communicate results of testing and data collection.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate new process chemistries, procedures, and analytical instruments.
  • Assist in performing investigations into deviations and customer complaints to determine root cause.
  • Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and aerial lifts (on-job training provided)
  • Be a Safety Champion and support employee safety, feed safety, and process safety initiatives.
  • Participate in training opportunities to further technical knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work occasional overtime if needed. Night shift work may be required during planned outages. 

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Management and/or Quality Assurance, agricultural processing, or chemical production setting.
  • High School diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications

  • College degree or technical certification in chemistry, biology, engineering, or related technical fields
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
