Product Line Analyst

Summary
CHS, Inc. is hiring for a Product Line Analyst to support our Lubricants division. The Product Line Analyst will play a key role in our product development and management process by analyzing market trends, customer feedback, and product performance data to drive informed decision-making. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, marketing, and sales to identify opportunities for product improvement and optimization.
This position will be hybrid out of our Inver Grove Heights, MN lubricants plant.
Responsibilities
- Product development input: Work with product development teams to identify potential product improvements, new feature additions, and updates based on market feedback and customer needs.
- Competitive analysis: Monitor competitor products and strategies to identify potential threats and opportunities for the product line.
- Marketing support: Provide product information and insights to marketing teams to develop targeted marketing campaigns and materials.
- Market analysis: Conduct thorough market research to understand customer needs, competitor landscape, and identify potential opportunities for the product line.
- Product positioning: Develop and execute strategies to effectively position each product within the line to target specific customer segments and maximize market penetration.
- Sales support: Provide detailed product knowledge to sales teams, including features, benefits, and applications, to enable effective sales presentations and customer engagement.
- Pricing strategy: Collaborate with pricing teams to set competitive pricing for each product within the line, considering market dynamics and profit margins.
- Bill of Materials (BOM)/ Router: Include work instructions to be listed in router-request, Cost Roll from Accounting; package and create, change, correct, deactivate, review all BOMs; Monitor blended BOM – Blend BOM/ router is created & changed by lab; Verify correctios to BOM and changes with Technical Services Director or Senior Technical Services Personnel. Provide BOM costing and comparisons to Technical Director and Manufacturing Director
- Item Code Work: Function within the Customer Product Instructions (CPI) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) to create, reactivate, correct, and obsolete; Drum label creation in JDE; Item inventory status changes – hold, release from hold, expiration, direct ship; Changes to item records: Produced to purchased and reverse, Purchase to direct ship, Phantom to blender, Troubleshooting Item record conflicts, Update supplemental data, Verify DSI users on a regular basis with Plant Managers, Make changes to BOM each time there is a change in BOM, Make adjustments to BOM as needed based off of blend data generated by QDA
- Provide back-up to Lab: Occasionally work in the lab as a technician to back up the established technicians to help learn the products and their chemistry as well as our quality arrangements; Conduct routine lab tests for quality purposes; perform duties as directed by plant chemist or direct supervisor
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in application sciences, manufacturing, or related field
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the petroleum or related industry preferred
- Strong understanding of agricultural, construction, automotive, over-the-road, and industrial equipment
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with proficient in administrative tasks and time management
- Good mechanical aptitude and computer skills
- Experience in manufacturing plants or quality control labs and ability to work effectively in laboratory, factory, and office settings
- Knowledge of lab testing protocols and ASTM procedures

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
