Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, KS. We are looking for a Building & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance of facilities, structures, utilities, service units, and systems. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule facilities maintenance, construction, and renovation projects entailing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building structures located outside the refinery’s process facility footprint.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
- Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to work site(s).
- Confer with Refinery leadership and maintenance crews on major grounds maintenance projects and changes.
- Supervise work performed by direct reports as well as outside contractors.
- Inspect and review projects and maintenance work to ensure compliance with building safety codes, environmental standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and adhere to operational and equipment budget.
- Requisition all janitorial maintenance contract services and supplies.
- Oversee and perform snow removal and other fall mitigation activities.
- Manage and perform grounds maintenance, including landscaping, turf care, sprinkler system, and pond upkeep.
- Manage and maintain building key system in collaboration with the security team to ensure controlled facilities access.
- Maintain fleet of pool cars available for employee use.
- Manage refinery-owned farmland maintenance and lease contracts.
- Manage refreshment vendor contracts (Culligan, Premier Food Market, Coffee, etc.)
- Respond to facilities emergency/after-hours calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ Years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or related field
Additional Qualifications
- Associate degree in related field of study
- 5+ Years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or related field
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment
- CDL with passenger endorsement
- Experience working as a general contractor, preferably in commercial construction
- Exceptional problem-solving skill and the ability to make quick, effective decisions
- Ability to interpret blueprints and other technical drawings
- Experience negotiating maintenance and vendor contracts

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
