Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity in our CHS Hedging division. CHS Hedging is an agriculture focused Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) with clearing memberships at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), and Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX). We are looking for a Treasury and Finance Analyst that will have preparation and reporting responsibility for critical reports to our regulatory agencies, which includes the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and MGEX. This role will also execute, manage, forecast, and monitor daily cash movements with customers, exchanges, and clearing brokers. This includes facilitation and oversight of the investments of the FCM. The role will also have exposure to finance and accounting responsibilities in the organization. These responsibilities include serving as a backup to the Senior Accountant in a variety of tasks and participating in the month end general ledger close process. CHS Hedging upholds a robust internal control environment, and the candidate will maintain all segregation of duty requirements of the organization.

This role will also be expected to participate in continuous improvement efforts, including projects within UIPath and Power BI platforms. You must have the ability to function in a highly-regulated compliance environment, manage multiple competing priorities, problem-solve, maintain strong organizational skills, and be deadline driven.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and review of regulatory reports for CHS Hedging, a registered FCM, and associated submission to regulatory agencies. This includes daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Ensure general ledger and transaction system are properly recorded and reconciled to third party sources and are compliant with both GAAP and CFTC requirements. Responsible for assisting in regulatory and financial audits.
  • Review of all daily wires, ACH, check distributions and receipts and ensuring accuracy of reporting.
  • Responsible for daily cash planning, forecasting. and settlements from customers, exchanges, and other clearing brokers. This includes ensuring all CFTC regulations are followed in the handling of segregated customer funds and determining cash movements necessary to fund each account.
  • Facilitate the investment and associated settlement of the Firm’s securities as is permitted under CFTC Regulation 1.25 and ensure all regulatory requirements associated with investments are monitored and reported accurately in the general ledger. Investment products include treasuries, government agencies, and reverse repo’s.
  • Maintenance and development of policies and procedures to maintain the FCM’s compliance environment.
  • Prepare monthly account recs in Blackline
  • Interact with customers to communicate and address questions regarding their margin activity
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Treasury

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience and passion for continuous improvement
  • High attention to detail and level of accuracy
  • Analytical thinking to draw effective conclusions from data 
  • Advanced skills with Excel and complex spreadsheets
  • Experience with regulated environments such as SEC and CFTC
  • Experience with treasury/cash operations
  • Understanding of derivatives activity, particularly futures and options.
  • Previous experience in commodity or financial services industry, particularly a FCM (Futures Commission Merchant)
  • Experience with agri-business
  • Experience with Power BI, SAP, Microsoft Suite

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
