Summary

Tax and Patron Equities is looking to add an analyst that will focus on patronage and equity matters. The position will develop a deep understanding of cooperative tax principles and the determination of patronage at CHS. They will be responsible for assisting in the calculation of patronage for tax and patron distribution purposes, reconciliation of patron transactions and equity balances used for patronage and voting calculations, research tax technical inquires around cooperative concepts, perform analytics, respond to ad hoc reporting requests, and contribute to the design of the new patronage ledger.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all aspects of patronage from the calculation at the business unit level, including collaboration with business unit personnel on earnings and volumes by allocation unit, for financial statement accrual to the issuance to the patron level in the following fiscal year and understand the causality of variance between the two.
  • Research cooperative tax technical concept, and patronage issuance and redemption tax reporting, where necessary.
  • Deliver reconciliation analysis to leadership regarding the comparison of business transactions in patronage-eligible business units and voting-eligible transactions.
  • Develop and maintain of database to extract patrons’ history of business transactions within patronage eligible allocation units as well as redemption transactions.
  • Utilize Patron Equities data scorecard to enable decision making around equity redemption efforts and overall data health of equity records.
  • Identify opportunities with Patron Equities team members to use automation and data to improve business efficiencies regarding the reporting of patronage and periodic redemption amounts to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Tax and Patron Equities team members to effectively build the patronage ledger as an extension in the new product line operating model.
  • Develop and maintain accurate dashboards, models and reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances.
  • Performance variance analysis with the ability to understand and communicate key drivers of change.
  • Enable decision making via the delivery of high impact analysis to business units and leadership.
  • Assist in developing, preparing and presenting Key Performance Indicators and metrics.
  • Lead or participate in projects, anticipating and ensuring development and maintenance of robust, scalable service capabilities (processes, systems, policies/procedures, organization, and compliance) to support the company growth.
  • Build relationships at all levels of the organization to facilitate collaboration across business departments and functions to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to use automation and data to improve business performance.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Financial Planning and Analysis

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong financial budgeting, forecasting and analytical skills
  • Experience using financial dashboards, modeling and reporting
  • Ability to build external and internal relationships in order to effectively and creatively solve problems
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to facilitate meetings and lead discussions
  • CPA or MBA preferred

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
