Summary

CHS Inc. a $33B global enterprise has an exciting opportunity within our Supply Chain organization. The Logistics Manager will lead a team of logistics specialists supporting RBD and Crude Soybean Oil truck transportation. In addition, this leader will play a critical role in leading continuous improvement efforts to drive value for the organization. This position is a Full Time position located in Inver Grove Heights, MN and works a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team of logistics specialists in Ag Business Transportation
  • Support CHS’s Transportation and Logistics' carrier management strategy through negotiations, relationship management, and carrier selection
  • Negotiate rates and transportation contracts with carriers, manage daily RBD and Crude Oil truck tenders to carriers for customer delivery, build long term relationships and expedite the transportation of products, troubleshooting as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze costs, managing expenditures and planning for growth.
  • Conduct analysis and forecasting of product availability, location and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain strategic long term carrier relationships aiding in effective management of logistical costs.
  • Research, establish and maintain routing and dispatch execution, route optimization, cost containment, and minimization of out-of-route and empty miles.
  • Act as the communication liaison between client plants, terminal storage facilities, internal sales/marketing, and customers to efficiently and economically meet product sales/delivery execution goals.
  • Monitor the performance of product sales and perform the physical movements from respective plant location to product destinations.
  • Maintain appropriate records and prepares reports on volume, cost and service.
  • Manage and schedule domestic and export truck shipments of materials/products through collaboration with plant operations, supply chain, purchasing, and truck carriers to ensure timely deliveries to our customers.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
  • Logistics, Operations Management, or related field
  • Understanding of standard shipping practices, trucking for covered hopper trucks, tank trucks and dry vans
  • Knowledge of commodity markets, contractual terms, truck transportation/logistics
  • SAP and CMIS knowledge and experience
  • Act with a sense of urgency in dealing with time sensitive issues
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to influence others
  • Experience building strong cross functional partnerships
  • Experience developing, coaching, and mentoring others

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
