VAT Specialist (Analyst, Tax Expert)

Summary
The VAT Refund Specialist is responsible for managing, analyzing, and optimizing the processes related to the recovery of VAT balances, ensuring compliance with current tax regulations. This position requires an analytical approach to ensure the correct documentation, presentation and tracking of returns, minimizing tax risks, and optimizing the organization's cash flows.
This position is located in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit VAT refund applications to the tax authorities. Promptly follow up on the status of refunds on official platforms. Analyze the viability of returns and their financial impact on the organization.
- Consolidate and organize the supporting documentation required for applications. Maintain updated and orderly records, ensuring the traceability of each operation.
- Attend to question from tax authorities, requirements and tax audits related to refunds. Collaborate with other areas (accounting, legal, tax) to prepare robust responses.
- Monitor changes in VAT-related tax provisions. Verify that tax returns are aligned with current regulations
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Tax Accounting
- Bi-lingual; fluent in English and Spanish (both verbal and written)
Additional Qualifications
- Subject matter expertise in tax accounting, 10 years of work within a corporation environment in a position of filing and recovering VAT
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and quality
- Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
