Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Energy Division. We are hiring for a Full time Terminal Operator at our Asphalt Terminal located in Grand Forks, ND. You will be responsible for receipt of products, oversight of product quality and testing, Manufacture and blending of PMA products, inventory, maintenance, environmental compliance, and loading of trucks. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate terminal equipment: forklift, skid steer, loader, man lift, telehandler, etc.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Document and accurately measure the movement of Asphalt through the terminal.
- Provide for efficient 24/7 operation of the loading rack by maintaining rack equipment, and training truck drivers using the loading rack.
- Manufacture Polymer Modified Asphalt.
- Ability to be on call during non-business hours for terminal-related issues. Work overtime shifts as needed.
- Be the lead operator of the swing or night shift.
- Practical knowledge of automation/instrumentation, electrical systems, atmospheric storage tanks, pumps, and hazards associated with handling hot Asphalt.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 Plus years of experience in an asphalt terminal or the petroleum industry
Additional Qualifications
- Supervisory experience.
- Additional Measurable Skills / Experience
- Strong mechanical background
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs.
- Work at heights above 40’, and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
- Have the ability to work in extreme weather.
- Wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and background screen.
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
