Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wholesale Product Specialist on the Wholesale CP team in North Dakota, with top commodities including wheat, soybeans, and corn. This individual will be responsible for providing technical training and sales support to CHS customers with a particular emphasis on what is determined by the marketing department as “Focus Products.” Regular communication with technical specialists, sales manager, and sales team members is required. The job will focus on establishing customer plot and account manager tracking plot development and assisting the technical specialists with any type of documentation of information related to either plots or product complaints. This individual will be responsible for assisting the technical specialists in the development of selling tools and training events around Focus products. These responsibilities will be concentrated on efforts to support the marketing direction of CHS, Inc. Focus products. 

The successful candidate will live and have current relationships with customers in North Dakota, including locations like Bismarck, ND, Minot, ND, or Fargo, ND.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Assist the technical specialists and sales team members with building customer confidence and proper positioning of Focus Products throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Focus Product offerings and support the corresponding technical information that relates to those products.
  • Participate in and present to customers and sales team members at various meetings where attention is being brought to the Focus Products.
  • Assist the technical specialists in establishing and coordinating the accumulation of information and data from Focus Product plots at customer locations.
  • Assist the technical specialists with the training of CHS, Inc. personnel to effectively deliver technical information to customers.
  • Assist with and provide the CHS Research and Product Analyst with the accumulation of data from appropriate field demonstration trials and replicated research trials to customers.
  • Assist marketing personnel with information needs and sales support materials.
  • Assist with the development of technical selling tools for use by CHS, Inc. personnel, including but not limited to presentations, technical bulletins, and promo sheets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or associated with essential job functions.
  • Contemporaneous and prompt documentation as it relates to all research, technical data, sales call activity, expense activities and employee matters through various methods (i.e. Microsoft Office products, expense software and corporate accounting/inventory software).
  • Act as a focus champion for the assigned sales team working closely with the Sales Manager and Focus Product team members.
  • Provide constructive contribution to sales best practices. Role model cooperation by sharing knowledge with others.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma and/or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in agricultural industry with field research or tech service background or related field.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology or weed science.
  • 5+ years or more of experience in agricultural industry with field research or tech service background preferred.
  • Active participation in one or more professional Ag organizations encouraged.
  • Strong agriculture background/knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and success oriented.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Diversity to communicate and relate to the wide array of different fore-mentioned groups on levels that they can understand.
  • Strong focus and dedication to customer service and product support to all internal and external. customers. External customers will/may include customers, University personnel and technical groups.
  • Ability to perform under stressful situations and time constraints.
  • Ability to consistently present in front of groups a professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to utilize office tools (phone, fax, computer) Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to put together meeting presentations on Focus Products & Agronomics and present to the Retailer & Grower.
  • Technical knowledge, field research and data evaluation skills.
  • Understanding of the sales support needs and ability to develop selling tools.
  • Act as the “Focus product champion” for their assigned sales team, working closely with the sales manager and marketing lead.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence.
  • Ability to develop and retain business relationships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel >85%.
  • Some overnight stays will be required and will vary depending on seasonal business obligations

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
