Lead Lab Technician

Summary

Responsibilities

  • Analyze products in accordance with quality control methods and operate laboratory equipment using the approved testing procedure.
  • Assist in quality assurance testing of final products and samples.
  • Augment Operations staff in performing standard and extraordinary analytical testing in order to troubleshoot plant operations and/or facilitate process improvements.
  • Become proficient in using the computer (i.e. using label software, UPS shipping labels and printing them).
  • Communicate with all personnel involved in quality, manufacturing, and technical services.
  • Conduct instrument inspections and calibrations.
  • Interpret test results from customer quality assurance samples to effectively respond to customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Maintain an inventory of packing supplies for sample preparation.
  • Maintain an inventory of sample stock and ensure that is stays in good condition.
  • Maintain and calibrate all laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Operate gas chromatograph and liquid chromatograph.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Record and enter in the computer the product lot numbers, date, initials, fill time, notes of interest, and shipping charges.
  • Ship samples as promptly as possible after sorting and prioritizing based on product availability, number of samples on each request, urgency, and preferred method of shipment.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Applied Science
  • Knowledge of Quality Management
