Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Information Technology group. We are looking for a Network Engineer to assist in the oversight of existing network infrastructure and growth of the CHS enterprise network. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented and have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform routine and complex engineering, support, and administration of CHS enterprise network services and infrastructure.
  • Analyze and consult with the business on needs, recommended solutions and effort/cost estimate guidance for the purchase, installation and support of network communications.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and end to end Visio designs for implementation and support of network solutions.
  • Partner with consulting resources to manage facilities Avaya phone system.
  • Monitor, log, track and resolve hardware, software and infrastructure deficiencies and note weaknesses or tendencies toward failure within the full range of system lifecycle -- build, service provisioning, operations and decommissioning.
  • Partner with other technicians to support local site storage and virtualization environments.
  • Backup others to ensure stability of Windows Server environment.
  • Provide assistance in network planning, engineering, architecture and the development of technical standards and technical strategy.
  • Develop and implement project plans for network technologies and systems.
  • Establish repeatable processes/ templates to drive operational efficiency with continuous feedback/improvement of network, operational support, and IT services for site customers.
  • Engage, interact with, and drive vendor and peer support team resolution of Network related incidents.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of network device, system, and service-related incidents.
  • Train and provide technical support to new and existing customers of network systems/services and peer support teams/resources.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Work non-traditional work hours and occasional off hours to control interruptions to production processing and business impact.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent years of training, work experience and education)
  • 2+ years of experience as a network engineer to include:
    • Managing and supporting sophisticated network environments, LAN and WAN architectures
    • Designing and implementing LAN and WAN network solutions
    • Knowledge of industry protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, IPSec and VLANs and Spanning tree)
    • Understand Windows Server administration
    • Exposure to VMWare system management
    • Knowledge of storage array administration

Additional Qualifications

  • ITIL Certification
  • Cisco certification: CCNA, CCNP
  • BGP, SNMP, Sys logging, SSH
  • Firewalls (Palo Alto)
  • Understanding of monitoring, packet capture, analysis and ISP provisioning
  • Understanding of Cisco wireless implementation and configuration
  • Understanding of Fiber Channel
