CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Strategic Sourcing group for a Strategic Sourcing Intern. As a Strategic Sourcing Intern, you will work closely with our Procurement team to support the sourcing and procurement activities that drive the efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain. This internship will expose you to strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and negotiation. This internship is for Summer 2024.
Responsibilities
- Research industry trends, market conditions, and supplier landscapes to identify potential opportunities and risks.
- Assist in identifying potential suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and maintaining a database of qualified suppliers.
- Support the creation and issuance of RFx and other procurement documents, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.
- Analyze supplier proposals, conduct cost analyses, and participate in the evaluation bids to recommend the most advantageous supplier selection.
- Collaborate with the supplier in seeking favorable terms and conditions while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- Assist in developing and maintaining supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Work closely with various departments, including transportation, crop protection, and country operations, to understand their sourcing needs and requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function and contribute to implementing best practices.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in business/supply chain or a recent graduate interested in gaining internship experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Interest in agricultural business, supply chain, logistics, or business management.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
