The company is undergoing an exciting transformation with Sales and Operations Planning as a key strategic enabler, driving the need for a Demand Planner. The Demand Planner supports the Sales & Operations Planning team by effectively forecasting a product line of the agriculture sector of CHS, utilizing multiple forecast inputs including history, market dynamics, commercial forecast, financial inputs, etc. In addition, this role will support the implementation of SAP-IBP, including maintaining the data design framework for their product line to support a sustainable process. To be successful, this individual needs to balance quantitative forecast development with collaborative skills to gather business intelligence from cross-functional stakeholders.

The Global Grain, Strategic Demand Planner will work with go to market teams to forecast global

demand, open demand and strategic market opportunities. The planner works with trading and risk

management teams to forecast demand on key CHS export assets and corridors. The role is

responsible for leading the planning process and develops consensus scenarios with trading and

operations teams to maximize growth opportunities for CHS. The role develops tools that utilize

internal and external forecast inputs (history, market dynamics, commercial forecast, financial inputs,

etc.) to develop a Consensus Demand Plan for a product line.

This is an enterprise role and will have influence across many departments within the Agriculture sector. To be successful, this individual needs to balance quantitative forecast development with collaborative skills to gather business intelligence from cross-functional stakeholders.

This position is located in our Inver Grove Heights, MN office and works a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

Forecast Creation, Maintenance, and Communication

  • Execute the global demand forecasting process for the agriculture commodity product line 
  • Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns
  • Recommend solutions to drive planning performance through KPIs (accuracy, bias, and forecast value add) 
  • Successfully communicate forecast and performance gaps as part of the S&OP process

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Stakeholders

  • Review gaps between market, model, commercial, and financial plans and facilitate dialogue on steps for closure 
  • Ensure stakeholders are aware of forecast performance KPIs and opportunities to improve 
  • Collaborate via the S&OP process to ensure inventory and supply plans meet sales teams needs and required service levels to the demand plan

System Parameter and Record Maintenance

  • Support implementation of SAP-IBP, including maintaining the data design framework for their product line to support a sustainable process 
  • Utilize alerts to future forecast performance risks to proactively resolve with teams 
  • Evolve system with process maturity, moving from manual to statistical to AI/ML capabilities as the process improves

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Demand Planning

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Statistics or related field
